E.1027 - Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea
The city is either drowning in rain or melting under the sun. On days like these, you can’t help but crave adventure: to explore new cultures and countries, wander through unfamiliar places, gaze around, and fall in love. LAF (The Summer Architecture Festival) offers a journey across countries and eras without the hassle of packing, just a ticket as your visa.
The program’s seven films are stories of metropolises and small towns, architectural landmarks, and the people who reshaped cities and pioneered revolutionary ideas in design, construction, and urban planning. From the personal struggles and forgotten legacy of Eileen Gray to the quiet mastery of Renzo Piano, from Oslo’s vibrant dialogue between city and art to a critical look at Copenhagen’s ideals – these are stories of architecture told through human lives. You’ll encounter Le Corbusier’s utopias and the poetic whispers of a house in Majorca, where stone and light become extensions of space. All films have been featured at international festivals in Venice, Rotterdam, Lisbon, Palm Springs, Bergen, Istanbul, Copenhagen, Lucerne, and Haugesund.
LAF’s films are profound reflections on our connection to place: how architecture defies time and invites us to see our surroundings anew.
All films are shown in their original language with Russian subtitles.
